iCity-periferiche

"I City-periferiche" is a progressive art project which will take place as a first step in the city of Bologna on Artefiera's days (26-27 January) and consequently move through different stages and destinations, being enriched by different contents as it travels. The project's title is a "semantic cut-up" pointing with irony to i-pod utilization and explotation as a generational status symbol. I-pod has produced a revolutionary change on the traditional walkman equipment, shifting the listening mode from a passive to a dynamic one, thanks to the breakthrough possibility of displaying and broadcasting one's productions through video and audio pod cast, all that implying a two-way interaction with the medium. I-pod has thus become the instrument for thought exchange, relying on the copyleft philosophy which guarantees a free and limitless distribution of art and creativity via people and peripheral interaction. I-pod functioning mode has been geared here to work as a platform for an interdisciplinary working plan which will be involving a group of artists, critics, architects, poets and sociologists all coming together and donating their art-work, would it be video or audio or sounds and images productions. I-City project aims to bend the concept of nomadism and Hakim Bay's Temporary Autonomy Zone theory, treating the I-pod equipment just like a TAZ, which would imply placing it both in a collocation, temporary though "real" in time, and in a location, real in space though deprived of a physical place of reference. An internet directory will be built, from which to select and download a personal play list, which is going to work in sinergy with a number of exhibitions and happenings showing the artistic works run in the previous exhibitions, thus creating a map series peculiar for this peripheral.
