Over on the smaller, but no less beautiful screen we weigh the merits of Happy Endings, Don't trust the bitch in apartment 23 and Appropriate Adult the Fred and Rosemary west mini series that is making such waves at the BAFTAs. In TV this week we start with Endeavour, the bestest prequel to what Mark described as the bestest detective series of all time, Inspector Morse. More cop fare in The Fall, a BBC production about Belfast alien-psychologist hybrids investigated by a pyjama clad Scully, bent on finding the truth. In movies, we start with The Place Beyond The Pines and much humming and hawwing ensues, whereupon Steve ruins Mike's day with waaaay better did-you-knows. Steve hasn't been seen since the making of this episode, so if anyone has any information on his current whereabouts please inform his wife who is very worried; the rest of us couldn't give a shit so don't bother contacting us. We wrap up with Star Trek-Into Darkness, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Stewie Griffin, all grown up and ready to play with the big boys. There are foul deeds afoot in the The Bletchley Circle as the XWomen track down a post-war London serial killer. The Netflix production, Hemlock Grove, keeps Shaun busy for eight minutes. Colin Farrell stars as Bruce Willis in Dead Man Down and is berated for his wasteful ways. Mike dodges a bullet with A Late Quartet, a suspenseful action adventure rom-com horror sure to leave you wanting more.
Mark finally twigs who is the bitch in the house. Steve vigourously applies both palms to face after Mike's dog 'joke'. The strength of the Ringbearer is failing. In his heart, Shaun begins to understand. The podcast will claim his life. You know this. You have foreseen it. We also watched some stuff. Iron Man 3 had to be done. Confusion reigns as we encounter a situation where 9 does not equal 9. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone gets us humming and hawing over the Carey-Carell throwdown. Sarah Chalke divides the pack in How To Live With Your Parents, and we are still trying to work out how 8 Out of 10 Cats Do Countdown made it on to The List.
Shaun is feeling hard done by this week as he is in the minority on Evil Dead and nobody appreciated his Nicholas Cage disguise for his trip to Iron Man 3 midnight show. We break out the popcorn and take off our critics hats for Olympus has fallen. In TV Rectify can't avoid the inevitable innuendo, while Dv Vinci's Demons shows us the Stark contrast between our view of the man and what he might have been as a sprightly young lad
Shaun returns to a warm welcome this week after his American Odyssey and a weather conspiracy is revealed. We start TV with The Bible, a rollicking yarn in 1189 chapters, starring Jean Claude Van Damme as Abraham. The team are split down the middle by Defiance, the latest TV blockbuster on SyFy, and contemplate how good looking you have to be to survive the apocalypse. New to DVD is Dollhouse, (no not that one!!), a pleasant house party where Irish people avoid the heavy drinking stereotype just long enough to skin up. We wrap up with the new Cruiser feature, Oblivion, where he outruns, outguns, and outgrins the aliens that destroyed his record collection.
