You Are Hear Dec show
This week's You Are Hear show features new music from proto-hauntologists Pram, the near-legendary Felix Kubin, truculent Cambridge sonic experimentalist and lumpen-surrealist raconteur Pete Um, a homage to the great Klaus Nomi from Hamburg's Henning Kaiser, Hillbilly Minimalism from Henry Flynt and Nova'Billy, heartbroken synthpop from Monster Bobby, some lost cassette recordings from cult German underground writer Max Goldt (best known for his work with NDW band Foyer Des Arts), ultra rare 'minimal synth' sounds from the mysterious John Bender, Italian trash punk, seminal British horror soundtracks and Venezuelan avant-garde electro-acoustics, as well as a taster of some of our favourites from 2007.

To some he is the whirlwind wizard of the ivories, others know him as Hamburg's foremost purveyor of dadatronic-experimentalist-pop music, to others still he is nothing less than the soul of Juri Gagarin reborn in the body of a child - this week's You Are Hear sees an exclusive live performance from the legendary psychotic-space-age pop artist FELIX KUBIN, recorded on 12 March at London's Corsica Studios: "This music is the melancholic hum of protons."

The latest edition of You Are Hear features an exclusive live set from legendary electronic music pioneers The Silver Apples. The Silver Apples were formed in New York in 1967 by drummer Danny Taylor and vocalist Simeon Coxe, the bands unique sound came from a hand built electronic instrument Simeon built from several oscillators with eighty-six manual controls which created a sound which predated and certainly influenced Krautrock, Suicide, Spaceman3 and a host of post rock bands such as the Klaxons who the band came to inspire some 40 years later. The Sliver Apples are now a solo act, sadly Danny died in 2005, however Simeon is very alive and kicking and as you will hear in this excellent live set recorded at the Corsica Studios in London on 12th march 2008 to a full house.

You Are Hear hosts a live special from Sonic Recycler 4 featuring Simon Bookish, Sean O’Hagan of the High Llamas (with Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab) and Blevin Blectum. This yearly event, promoted by The Sprawl, explores the cultural resonance of recycling through electronic music, experimental performance, film and community projects - the event was held at the Waterman Arts Centre, Brentford in May 2008.
