We've tweaked our audio a little bit on this episode of scienceTASTIC, so both the sound and the news stories are sure to delight. Mark's report on a giant space peanut will be mellifluous to your malleus, Mike invites your incus to enjoy facial recognition technology on your cell phone, and Joe is sure to stimulate your stapes and improve your math skills with electric shocks to the brain. More stories to titillate your tympanic membrane include a robotic hand filled with coffee grounds, moving holograms, and implants that allow the blind to see again. Is it just me, or did all of those ear references sound dirty?
What we didn't get to: NASA rover webcam, organizing your thoughts with a little cat nap, and skin printers.

If you can help it, don't even bother downloading this episode, because it's not an episode. It's just Joe saying that we've pulled the plug on the whole enterprise. That's right, scienceTASTIC is no more. Had we known at our last recording session we certainly would have given you the heads up then, but word was just handed down from corporate this past week. The scienceTASTIC Board of Directors called a special midnight session, there were filibusters and petitions, the FCC got involved... it was a bit to-do.
Anywho, we've had a lot of fun bringing you science new over the past two-plus years, and we hope you've enjoyed it, too. If you find yourself looking for more to fill your earholes we suggest Astronomy.fm, SciencePodcaster.org, and Podcast Squared.
Okay, that's all. Move along now. Nothing to see here.
We're all anxious about the return of TriviaGanza, but let's get these stories out of the way first: scientists reverse aging in mice, a "physical internet" sends freight through tubes, and Dolly the sheep gets reborn... four times. Now on to the good stuff. TriviaGanza II: 2 Trivia 2 Ganza. Mike and Mark battle it out in a science news trivia contest. Were you a lucky home contestant? Did you win some cash-ola? Can human poop increase our crop yields? All of these questions and more are answered. Listen, learn, and (maybe) win!
What we didn't get to: wifi killing trees, Mark's Mystery Book Club, and hacking the Kinect.
This episode of scienceTASTIC might have you calling the fire department because a) the news is hot, b) the humor is on fire, and c) a lot of the stories are about trees and cats. Mike previews a tree-like skyscraper in Taiwan, Mark analyzes some slo-mo video to figure out how cats drink, and Joe explains how scientists can turn trees into streetlights. Barely keeping with that theme (and that's an understatement) we have the Xbox 360 Kinect being used to gather advertising data, building ice resistant roads, and states that are finally discontinuing phone books. All of this had George the cat purring, so you'll probably enjoy it, too.
Write us at [email protected] for your chance to win 10 US smackers in TriviaGanza II: 2 Trivia 2 Ganza, coming up on our next episode.
What we didn't get to: a virtual nightclub that sold for $635,000, Deflexion, and how surgeons saved a girl's hand by grafting it to her leg.

This episode of scienceTASTIC is like a classic slow-building horror movie. It starts out unassuming - we have stories about a hundred-year starship, how dogs rely on seeing their owners' face, and myths about Halloween candy - but then the creepy factor really kicks in. Mike gives you the chills as he describes how your neighbor (who is, in all likelyhood, an axe murderer) could be spying on you all the time. Mark dares you to keep the lights off as you learn the connection between cancer and mummies. And finally, Joe gathers you all around the campfire to reveal the true story of the blood-sucking chupacabra. There's only one word to describe this episode: spooktacular.
What we didn't get to: evolving malaria-transmitting mosquitos, scary new fish, and an Optimus Prime costume you can make at home out of cereal boxes.
