Well well well, what the hell happened last month? Mix 7 really took off! Thanks to Thomas & Gianni and all of you who listened and downloaded the sounds to make DJS@WORK a Mover & Shaker not once but three times. So for this month, let's do it again!! As one of my close friends says, ''I like the way you are doing things'' ;-) DJS@WORK welcomes Dj Paul Heron. At this time most of you peeps are thinking holidays holidays holidays so I thought yea let's kick start the summer sounds off with this international jetsetting Dj'. Another one of those Dj's I find really diverse in his sounds from deep house to tech house to tribal to funky house to everything that is house music. A big big thanks and much love to the Heron for taking the time out to do this from his busy busy schedule! Catch your healthy dose of non stop house music podcasts on https://www.facebook.com/groups/djswork and the sister page https://www.facebook.com/pages/DJSWORK/169643933054634. Go on treat yourself! KEEPING THE VIBE OF HOUSE MUSIC ALIVE Enjoy! Chi 'Matinales' Nwokedi (Founder) DJS@WORK (London) ON THE DECKS WITH PAUL HERON: 1. So how and when did you start djing? I started djing as a hobby whilst I was studying at LCF and then Kingston College of Art and Design. I had always loved music in general as I did and still do think it's one of the ultimate forms of human expression. I had always had lots of friends who were djing whilst growing up and going out and had been collecting all my favorite records for a while... and one day thought I would try my hand at blending them together myself! 2. What style of house would you say you play and would you say your style has changed if at all? I dont really limit myself to one style as if its great dance music i tend to find a way to work it into my set! So my sets can be a fusion of soulful, deep, tech, tribal, disco, ballieric etc, why put yourself in a box? 3. What is house music? Discuss;-) House music for me is a wonderful way of fusing all other styles of music if you have a broad taste in music generally then house music is a great way of expressing that as one minute you can be playing cool remix of the most comercial pop record, the next a track buy the most obscure house producer and the next something with a huge arabic guitar sample all held together seamlessly buy a 4x4 beat! 4. Has it always been house music for you? My taste in music is very far reaching... I love everything from classical, Nina Simone, Emile Sande, Prince, Florence and the Machine, Scissor Sisters, Gossip, Grace Jones to Donna summer, Danny Tenaglia, Damian Lazarus so its a pretty broad spectrum but house/ dance music is my major love! 5. You produce tracks but are we gonna get more of the Heron in 2012? Definitely more of Heron in 2012. I've been very lazy on the priduction front recently but have a few projects in the pipeline that I will be starting work on soon! 6. Personally I love your sounds when I see you djiing, dancing rocking in the dj booth but also really liked your SUMMER SOULFUL MIX (2006 IBIZA POOLSIDE) & WMC MIAMI SUNSET mixes. Are you gonna do more of this too? Definitely more of those style mixes on the way... actually just started working on a cool little deep house side project with some very cool very talented young ladys! will keep you posted as may have a few podcasts heading your way from that project! 7. Are we gonna get more B2B's this year? ;-) The question before kinda answers that... perhaps even B2B2B's! 8. You dj internationally worldwide, where do you really enjoy playing your sound? I adore djing in Brazil... is one of my favorite places in the world to play as the energy from the crowd is already electric and I love getting to play a little tougher there! Also Australia and of course London but to be honest I enjoy playing everywhere! 9. From a dj's standpoint, your ultimate venue? Space ibiza is one of my favorites and i was really happy to finally play there last year on both the terrace and main floor, also Cavo Paradiso Mykonos, The Week Sao Paulo and Florianopolis and Sydney Harbour for the Harbour party have been real venue highlights for me! 10. Where do you see your music progressing in '12''. Hopefully in lots of interesting new avenues but i think a lot more of the deep sexy house vibe! Catch your healthy dose of non stop house music podcasts on https://www.facebook.com/groups/djswork and the sister page https://www.facebook.com/pages/DJSWORK/169643933054634. Luv the house, luv the Dj, luv DJSWORK!! Chi 'Matinales' N (Founder) DJSWORK (London) DJSWORK welcomes Rodrigo Moranto. ON THE DECKS WITH RODRIGO MORANTO 1. So how and when did you start djiing and where did the aka Rio C come from;-) I started dj ing at age of sixteen got involved with a friend who was already playing with turntables which got me into it. My first releases were under the name Rio C, later on created an alter ego - Rodrigo Moranto but having had good feedback on my Rio C tracks I decided to keep both running. 2. What style of house would you say you play? I have a huge wide interest in variations of music in house music, I like to play deephouse techhouse, techno always with a certain groove in it. 3. Who are/were your influences? My influences are from the early days are Tyree Cooper and Dj Fast Eddie. I liked their sound because the quality of key ingredients in their tracks, and although I didn’t realise it at that time being 13 years old. Piano, vocal and acid house was also a big influence on me back then. 4. So you have been in the house music industry for quite a while. How has this evolved when looking at it from a dj/producer perspective? It envloved maybe like many producers, I was always messing around djing, making music when it stepped up a gear when I first did a live act at friends party with an low cost sampler and a drummachine. I knew then I wanted to make tracks because the feeling of people dancing on your music was great to see . 5. You have produced a lot of tracks to include one of my favs, 9 Bazz which was used as the cover track for trade 21st birthday. So which do you prefer being on the decks or being in the studio? Haha, that 's a hard question, I like both actually I get different kind of feelings in the studio as when you're playing in the studio your more focused when I am playing I am in a different more of a party mood. 6 More recently with Nick Tcherniak, ”In my zone”, how did you become involved in that? That was because Nick had a mix album released with my track 9 Bazz and send me a simple message that he like the track very much he always played it so from there we moved on and start making tracks. 7. Where do you play in the Netherlands? I guest at several clubs festivals name and REAL house partys, if you know what I mean! 8. So who if anyone right now would you love to dj with back to back with your sound? I think that will be Nick Tcherniak because we produce together and that’s going great but we never played together so I think that will be a great thing to do sometime. 9. Your ultimate venue...where would you like to play, if you already haven't done it? There is a thing I like to do playing on Ibiza in Space, that will be ultimate :) 10. So more to come from you in 2013? Yes I very busy now with Nick Tcherniak we have already finished a track and I have 1 track now on the podcast that I finished recently it’s the last song of the podcast and I have some projest to finish so whilst I still love music- I keep going ;-) Catch more of Rodrigo Moranto on: https://www.facebook.com/deepdriver https://twitter.com/Rio__C https://soundcloud.com/ricomonart http://www.beatport.com/artist/rio-c/160717 http://www.beatport.com/artist/dj-rio-c/173508 Bookings on [email protected]

Part 2 of "My House Is Your House welcomes Julian Sula!! I remember meeting Julian Sula when I was out in Ibiza , 2009 at the closing parties and his style very much takes me to my holidays there and around the Spain circuit parties. Catch your healthy dose of non stop house music podcasts on www.facebook.com/groups/djswork and the sister page www.facebook.com/pages/DJSWORK/169643933054634. Luv the house, luv DJSWORK!! Chi 'Matinales' Nwokedi (Founder) DJSWORK (London) ON THE DECKS WITH JULIAN SULA: 1. When and how did you start DJ'ing? My passion for dance/electronic music evolved from an early age, however it was House Music I fell in love with once I had discovered and religiously attended London gay scene club nights such as the infamous Vauxhall afterhours, Trade, DTPM, Fiction, Discotec to name but a few. After a couple of years on the club scene, I somehow convinced myself that I had musical ears so in 2005 I treated myself to a mixing deck, complete with CDJ's, speakers and all gadgets needed. Problem was that that would be the first time I'd faced a mixing deck so for at least a month or two, I kept regretting having spent so much of my hard earned money. But eventually I managed to grasp the skill of beat-matching and the rest is history as they say. 2. What style of house music do you play? I love playing uplifting, big room, vocally infused circuit/progressive/tribal/Balearic House Music. Also to keep things fresh, I use a lot of mash-ups which I tend to create prior to playing anywhere, combining old classics with the more recent releases. 3. So who were/are your influences? The international world renowned DJ's/Producers will always be an influence for their past and continued contribution to music but my credit goes to some of the London gay clubbing scene DJ's who made me fall in love with House Music. 4. Where have you/do you played/play? The Village, Soho was my pioneering platform. My friend Tamara introduced me to their DJ roster by offering me to play monthly on Sundays for Illusion, an event created by her and following success of this, I was offered a residency playing weekly on Friday nights. Other events/venues where I have played include the Embankment Bar/Area, Vision Club, Sailor Boys [boat party] and numerous private events. 5. I have heard two of your mashup mixes, Ivan Gomez Vs Guerrero/Medina - Scream 2 The Sky (Julian Sula Mashup Remix) andIan Carey vs Dave Curtis - Avusadora Says What She Wants (Julian Sula Mashup). The second is my favourite and takes me back ;-) More of these mashups to come? Definitely. I love creating something new out of two, sometimes three tracks I would already enjoy dancing to. There are many DJ's out there playing the same tracks, so mash-ups make you stand out. 6. Any intention of producing your own tracks anytime soon then? It is not something I have tried so I can't really say right now. I will continue with the mash-ups and using the feedback received, will establish whether I have a musical ear for producing. Creating mash-ups, follows the same technique as that of music production, hours spent in front of the computer, taking the track a second (if not less) at a time. This requires great concentration and the ability to withheld in your thoughts parts of the track which are not yet created but that are the result of your inspiration. There is also no crowd to give you that extra buzz as well as that on-the-spot valuable feedback. 7. You are on the london gay clubbing scene, what direction do you think the house music is going? To me it seems like deep house is very much in but it is a pity you hardly hear an old school classic or an uplifting tune to make you wanna sing and throw your hands in the air ;-) 8. Who would you like to dj with back to back? IVAN GOMEZ & NACHO CHAPADO - Internationally DJ Francesco PAGANO - UK 9.Your ultimate 3 venues to play at? Peak set in Main Room @ Beyond [Area] and then after I can give a realistic position to start dreaming of playing in other ultimate venues. 10. More to come from you in 2013? I bloody well hope so. DJS@WORK will be my platform to breakthrough, so fingers crossed I get noticed, appreciated and rewarded. Catch your healthy dose of non stop house music podcasts on https://www.facebook.com/groups/djswork and the sister page https://www.facebook.com/pages/DJSWORK/169643933054634. Luv the house, luv the Dj, luv DJSWORK!! Chi 'Matinales' Nwokedi (Founder) DJSWORK (London) ON THE DECKS WITH XAVI LOPEZ: 1. When and how did you start djiing? I’ve been into dance music since I was little, spending nights next to the radio listening to dance shows and thinking about what a club would be like with that music on, people dancing, the lights, visuals… I was fascinated by all that stuff so as soon as I could I bought a pair of turntables and a mixer, that was in 1997. 2. What style of house music do you play? I love house music in general; it can be deep, tech, tribal, club, minimal… Depending on the crowd I play one or another. 3. So who were/are your influences? When I started DJing I was absolutely obsessed with Masters At Work. Nowadays I like what people like Dj Chus, David Penn, Santé, and Noir, to mention some, are doing, different styles but well produced music with lot of feeling. 4. Where have you/do you played/play? I played at many venues mainly in Spain and the UK, and a couple of festivals in Spain. 5. So how did you come to start djiing at WRONG? I met Jamie De Rooy 4 years ago; we share the passion for house music so we connected very well, by then Wrong! didn’t exist, he created it last year and when he had the chance he invited me to play, after that set I became one of Wrong!’s resident DJs. 6. Do you produce tracks as well as dj? Producing requires a lot of time and it’s not an easy thing to do, I did some producing at an amateur level some time ago but I stopped, I know that eventually I’ll get back to that as I have many ideas. 7. Define london house music and what direction do you think it is going in? London is huge musically speaking, and it’s on a continuous evolution. I think that at the moment in the underground scene there’s a lot of “indie dance/ nu disco / deep house“ and tech house, and this will spread even further. 8. Your best gig to date? There have been many good nights at Wrong! I think it’s the combination of a small venue, DJs that play without any restrictions, and an amazing crowd. 9. Your ultimate 3 venues to play at? I used to think “I would like to play at this club or that one” but what is important, more than the venue, is the people. My perfect venue is the one where everyone wants to have fun. Let the DJ do the work and surprise you with new sounds, enjoy the set, keep your mind open, and dance. 10. More to come from you in 2013? 2013 has just started and it already has plenty of exciting things coming up. Apart from being one of Wrong!’s resident DJs, I’ve just been asked to play for DJSWORK ,and Clubbing Network, so it’s going to be a very busy year. Still have goosebumps and flashbacks to the nite, luv it!! A big thank you to the Dj's & you the punters who made the birthday a nite to remember. Decided to keep it short, keep it sweet and just say thank you...simples! If you luv the house, luv the Dj, luv DJSWORK! The journey has begun... Go on treat yourself! Chi 'Matinales' Nwokedi (Founder) DJSWORK (London) ON THE DECKS WITH BEN MANSON: 1 : So how & when did Ben Manson start as a Dj? I started my carrer in 2000 at Enjoy an after party in a gay sauna :-) 2. I have seen you in Barcelona, London, Brussels and also on your homeground, LAB Paris @ Scream and seen the diversity with wich you play so would you say you have a certain style of house music you play? I don’t like to say I play a type of music cause I love so many kinds of electronic sounds from deep to trance via nu disco, tech house, progressive, techno. 3. Who if any when you started out were your influences? When I started I was really influenced by dj & producers like Deep Dish, Victore Calderone, Chus & Ceballos, D-Formation. 4. You have produced so many tracks as well as djiing. Can you remember the 1st track you produced?;-) Oh yes it was in 2008, ia colloboration with Teo Moss, the track is called “From Hell To Paradise” out on Sunset Records a subdivision of Wally Lopez’s label Factomania. We did it in 45 minutes, mastered it in one hour and it was signed the day after!! Just AMAZING!!! 5. Which art do you prefer more, djiing or producing tracks or do they go hand in hand? I’m not a big producer, I like to do one original and 1 or 2 remixes per year, I’m realy addicted to play live, to see all the smiley faces in front of me and share my passion with people ;-) 6. I really loved the 1st anniversary party for LAB @ Scream in Paris in October. How did LAB Paris come about? LAB’s was born in October 2011 because at this time I really wanted to start something new in Paris, something with djs I love & with themes every month. For over a year now it’s one of the biggest Paris gay party with clubbers from all around the world!!! YOU MUST TRY IT!!! 7. To a novice, how would you say the house music movement is like in France? I think the movement is a bit young, there is no big clubbing culture like in the UK, Germany, Belgium. The biggest part think the electronic music is David Guetta There is a very good underground scene with lot’s of small club with a lot of techno, electro, but it’s still small. I’m very happy to do my own party cause i like to try new djs & sounds there and it works so well :-) 8. Hmmm, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask this but is there anywhere in the globe that you say yea, this is it, you love to play your sound?;-) You know for the 12 years I have played in a lot of places but til today the favorite place I played were (and are) La Demence@Fuse/Brussels, Green Komm@Nachtflug/Cologne, Gmf@WeekendClub/Berlin & LAB’s@Scream/Paris. 9. Is there anywhere you haven't played;-) I still have few clubs I dream of like Cielo/Nyc, Pacha/Nyc, Stereo/Montreal,... There is also a so nice club in Tokyo (I forget the name ;-) ) 10. So more exciting projects to come from you in 2013? I am working on some new productions, Will do a remix album and will continue to cross the world with new great destinations, I hope :-) Catch more of Ben Manson on: http://djbenmansonscream.podomatic.com http://benmansondj.podomatic.com http://benmanson.podomatic.com http://soundcloud.com/ben-manson-music https://www.facebook.com/benmansonofficial?fref=ts http://www.djbenmanson.com/
